Goodreads is a brilliant app for recording and tracking your reading habits! The perfect [app] companion to read along with! Free to download and available for IOS and Android, Goodreads helps the book-worm in you to set yourself reading challenges, as well as read and write reviews!
Reviews available to read have a range of professional, more critical reviews, as well as reviews by book loving readers just like you! It’s the reliability of the New York Times critics but with a more accessible-for-all source!
The app is fantastically organized. When the user comes across a book that peaks their interest, they can mark the novel as “read”, “to be read”, and many other categories! The app also has a brilliant social aspect. You can connect the app to Facebook, Twitter, and all of your other social media accounts to share your reading goals and achievements with your friends! You can also view your friends books which are “to be read” and recommend your favorite reads to them.
The application tracks your reading so closely that it highlights your reading progress in percentages, and sends you notifications when similar books become available. It takes into account what books you have been marking and reading, and suggests new ones for you – much like what Netflix does with movies! (but Goodreads is free – yay!)
The only downside Goodreads has (I would say) is it needs an online shopping facility! When Goodreads recommends a book to you, it’s not downloadable through the app, nor does it direct you to a link where you can purchase it. I think this would make the app a lot more enjoyable.
It’s suitable for children and easy to navigate around. So if you’re a book lover, why not download it?
